Why are we here? What do we believe?
As Christians we are followers of Jesus Christ, who came to earth as a fragile baby in Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago. Jesus was crucified when he was in his early thirties, died, was buried and rose again from the dead three days later.
The death and resurrection of this one man is at the very heart of the Christian faith. For Christians it is through Jesus’s death that people’s broken relationship with God is restored.
- We believe that God loves us and that in Jesus he revealed himself to us, to restore our broken relationship with God and to give us the best example of how to live life well by loving each other.
- We believe that God welcomes everybody into his family. So, we try to make everyone who comes through our doors and who we meet welcome too, wherever they are on their journey of life. We encourage everyone to find their place within the family.
- We recognise that we all have questions – faith is not easy and we don’t pretend it is, but having the space and time to share these questions together is important. We want our church to be a place where we can all be curious and honest.
- We believe that God changes us by the Holy Spirit and that faith in Jesus overflows into transformed lives, and we look and seek to live in a way that pleases God and shows his love to all people and the whole of his creation.
