In November 2010, we took the decision to remove the pews in church and replace with individual chairs.  The idea behind the project was to create a more comfortable, but more importantly flexible space.

We ordered the first 30 chairs in November 2010 which were delivered by Christmas, and we used these chairs to show the congregation the benefits of the move – and they were well received.  We often moved the chairs around and into different formations to show their flexibility.

We received permission from the Diocese to do this and the pews were removed in June 2011 ready for the new chairs.  The project was completed in July 2011.

People were invited to pay for the chairs in memory of a loved one, and the project was a fantastic success – no church money was used for  this project.
